Only the purchasing agency, the SBA, and the certified 8(a) vendor can negotiate the contract terms.

A simplified decision cycle:

Typically, the time required to process and award the contract is 1-2 weeks.

Reduced administrative costs:

Because of the ease of procurement, administrative costs are significantly reduced.

The best value:

The purchasing agency negotiates directly with the firm to obtain the best value.

Small Business Credits:

Agencies are eligible for small business credits for each sole-source 8(a) contract they award.

The Six-Step Process to Sole Source Contract to ArcheSys Inc.

To set up your SBA 8(a) Sole Source vehicle, you should:

1. Determine your needs:

First, ensure that the statement of work, government estimate, and funding are all developed by the government program manager or interested party.

2. Sole-Source Your Selection Decision:

At this stage, the government program manager or the interested party will have selected ArcheSys to carry out the work and have submitted a procurement request to the agency contracting officer.

3. Filling Out Your SBA Worksheet:

The contracting officer at the government agency writes up an "offer letter" to ArcheSys, Inc and sends it to:
Caroline Henson, Business Development Specialist, Baltimore District Office, 100 South Charles Street, Suite 1201,  Baltimore, MD 21201, mdofferletters@sba.gov

4. SBA Reviewed and Accepted:

The Offer Letter is processed by the SBA and returned to the agency contracting officer. The officer submits a Statement of Work and a Request for a Proposal or Quotation to ArcheSys, Inc.

5. Scoping and negotiations:

The proposal is then submitted by ArcheSys, Inc and evaluated and negotiated (if necessary) by the agency.

6. A contract is awarded:

Finally, the contract is awarded to ArcheSys, Inc.

8(a) Competitive procurement advantages.

With this competitive procurement setup, you get:

A simplified Acquisition process:

Government agencies are permitted to compete for work using this method, provided that at least two qualified small businesses are likely to submit competing offers for the work.

Pricing that is Competitive:

Government agencies will receive bids from a number of different qualified small businesses. Thanks to a competitive procurement, they benefit from the awarding of the contract at a price that tries to match the market.

Small Business Credits:

Agencies are eligible for small business credits for each competitive 8(a) contract they award.
